June 26, 2019 – Canadian Food Inspection Agency has amended its vodka standards to enhance economic competitiveness, facilitate trade and create more choice for consumers.
Thinking outside the box from when potatoes and cereal grains were the only ingredients used to produce vodka, vodka can now use more agricultural ingredients such as fruit, dairy and honey.
Some of the new practices that Canadian Distillers benefits from include encouraging them to be more competitive, more inclined to export beyond provincial and territorial borders, and having distillers gain from savings by buying more local products to make their vodka.
