Lake Erie Yellow Perch and Walleye were recently certified as a sustainable fishery by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
“By choosing MSC labelled seafood, you reward fisheries that are committed to sustainable fishing practices,” according to the MSC website.
The Ontario Commercial Fisheries Association undertook the assessment to register the Lake Erie fishery as sustainable, which will have a positive economic impact to the industry.
