Norfolk County’s award-winning Student Start Up Program (SSUP Norfolk) is back.
Norfolk County and is sponsors are excited about another year engaging entrepreneurs grades 6 to 12 and expanding Norfolk County’s commitment to the youth through engagement and retention.
In 2017 Norfolk County received 188 applications from students from grades 6 to 12 and awarded 94 student start-up businesses cash, assisting 107 students in part through applications that were partnerships. Successful applicants were awarded $200 and were encouraged to use the support and mentorships available through the sponsors to maximize their experience. Bonuses of $100 were also awarded to those students that completed the year-end report.
The accolades and awards in 2016 and 2017 at provincial and national levels definitely reinforce that Norfolk is on the right track with youth engagement and setting the bar for others.
In just two years, Norfolk County has seen over 270 applications resulting in 158 new business start-ups through SSUP Norfolk. The program is only made possible by the generous sponsors support both monetarily and through their mentorship. Sponsors are encouraged to support the program in 2018.
