Our business visits continue with a stop at Sawaya Garden Trials of Norfolk County, the largest outdoor non-biased flower testing facility in Canada. This is where flower breeders and growers for retailers like Walmart, Lowe’s Home Improvement and Costco test and plan for the gardening season ahead. About 3,000 flower cultivars are tested here each year.
Since 2000, Melhem Sawaya has been working with flower breeders from North America, Europe and Australia to ensure that flowers offered to consumers are top-quality.
The company also donates the proceeds of sales of its cultivars to local charity each year.
