Norfolk County Community Planning Pre-Consultation Meetings
Interested in developing in Norfolk County but not sure where to start, or unsure what is required in a formal application . . . .?
Norfolk County Community Planning Division holds pre-consultation meetings to provide applicants with an opportunity to discuss their proposal, review drawings, and identify the planning applications/process required.
Meetings are held on a monthly basis at no cost to the developer in a casual roundtable discussion format. Meetings are attended by the property owner and/or agent and planning staff, as well as representatives from various County Divisions and external agencies as required based on the preliminary understanding of the proposal (i.e. Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Public Works, Building, Engineering, etc.).
Some benefits of a pre-consultation meeting include:
- Identifies opportunities and challenges moving forward;
- Ensures relevant planning applications and policies are conveyed;
- Suggests modifications;
- Identifies required plans and studies.
Pre-consultation meetings are required for most Zoning, Official Plan, subdivision, condominium and site plan applications.
Community Planning staff would be pleased to meet and discuss your development ideas. To discuss your proposal with a Planner and/or make an appointment for an upcoming Development Action Team (DAT) meeting, please contact the Norfolk County Community Planning Division at 519-426-5870.
