Norfolk County Council has approved a development application by M6 Developments to rezone land in the west end of Simcoe for a retirement complex.
The proposal includes two phases of development; with phase one including a four storey building with 70 retirement suites, and the second phase including a four storey building with 45 retirement suites for a total of 115 units on site. It is anticipated that each suite will have a bedroom, washroom and small kitchenette. There will be a central laundry, dining and an activity room in the buildings.
In its report to Council, the Community Planning Division stated that the development fulfills “a need for higher density housing opportunities, providing infill and intensification within the urban area and improving an existing property in the community fabric with connections to recreational opportunities.”
