Bryan and Cathy Gilvesy and family have received the Environmental Stewardship Award from RBC Royal Bank for their commitment to the environment. The Gilvesys own and operate YU Ranch in Norfolk County.
Since 2008, Gilvesy has had 150 acres of his land enrolled in the Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) program, which has helped him manage forested areas, improve carbon storage, create buffer areas for waterways, install nesting structures to support wildlife, and establish habitat for native pollinators.
The Gilvesy family received the award at the Beef Farmers of Ontario annual conference.
