SmartFire Training Division is proposing a fire training facility at the former Delhi Research Station and Experimental Farm. The owner of the property is seeking a site-specific special provision from Norfolk County for a temporary use up to three years for the new development.
According to its website, Training Division is an emergency services training company that was developed by firefighters for firefighters, fire recruits, and Emergency Medical Service personnel.
“Training Division is proud to add an additional campus in southern Ontario that will offer full Boot Camp hosting and IFSAC eligible provincial testing through the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office,” according to the Training Division website.
Norfolk County Community Planning staff are supporting a temporary use zoning amendment for a period of 3 years to permit the facility in this location, and the report will be brought forward to the May 24, 2016, Council meeting. Staff visited the facility for a tour on May 4. An open house is taking place from 11 – 2 on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
