Fanshawe College in Simcoe delivers the Employment Ontario Youth Job Connection program (YJC). As many of you may view youth as being someone under the age of 18, the YJC program views youth as being between the ages of 15 to 29.
Part of the YJC program is to have youth go through pre-employment workshops to ensure they understand what employers are looking for in an employee. The youth will then be placed with an employer to gain some work experience and to put all that they have learned to work.
Fanshawe College is looking for employers who will offer clients on the job experience and take clients on placement. The employer will be able to give Fanshawe and the client valuable feedback on the client’s progress. The placement could be as short as a week. Worried about the amount of paperwork involved in this program? No need to worry as the paperwork is minimal. Employers will be compensated for the training they have given.
For more information please call Wanda Jacobs at (519) 428-1135 ext. 231 or Janie Geddes at Ext. 238. Let’s work together to keep our youth in our community.
