More than $105 million in construction activity occurred over the past six years in the former town of Simcoe, according to an analysis of building permit data from the Norfolk County Building Division.
Building permits for the Simcoe area between 2008 and 2013 included $48 million in residential, $33 million in commercial, $15.5 million in industrial, $7 million in institutional, and $497,000 in agricultural construction. This total represents an average of 23% of overall $455 million in construction in Norfolk County over the six-year period.
The analysis was prepared by the Norfolk County Tourism & Economic Development Division and presented to the Simcoe & District Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
