The South Coast Shuttle Bus service, operated on weekends in summer by Ride Norfolk, has seen healthy increases in ridership compared to its inaugural season last year.
Transportation Coordinator Brad Smith reports that all three routes of the service are popular, and every stop has been utilized.
Many groups are using the service again this summer, and sales of day passes have increased.
“Feedback is all positive,” said Smith, adding that people are getting used to the service. His most frequent inquiry about the service is a group of 8 to 10 people wanting to visit wineries.
The South Coast Shuttle connects Simcoe, Port Dover and Long Point via a hub in Turkey Point, with stops in Vittoria, Normandale and Port Rowan. Several private-sector and non-profit sponsors stepped forward to help fund the service.
A detailed report on the service will be presented to Norfolk County Council in the fall.
