Total year-to-date construction values in Norfolk County have increased by 20% in 2016, compared to the same period last year.
Norfolk County’s Building Division reports total construction value of $71 million in the first nine months of this year, compared to $59 million in the first three quarters of 2015.
“There is a real appetite for new construction in Norfolk County,” said Fritz Enzlin, Chief Building Official for Norfolk County. “These are the highest numbers we have seen in at least the past six years.”
March, May, June and August were the busiest months for issuing building permits in Norfolk County. Enzlin reported a historic spike in permits in August.
Norfolk County issued 947 building permits in the period ending September 2016, the highest number in six years. New construction included 228 dwelling units, of which 197 were single-family dwellings.
