Titan Trailers grows exports

Titan Trailers is expanding its export markets in Austalia, the United Kingdom and the United States, all part of its multi-year plan to employ more manufacturing workers in Norfolk County.

Founder Mike Kloepfer recently led a tour of the Courtland-area plant with Mayor Charlie Luke and senior Norfolk County staff. He showcased several truck trailers that were headed to Australia, where they will be used to transport Blue Gum tree chips to glossy paper manufacturers for Japan’s magazine publishing industry.

Last August, Titan Trailers purchased an assembly plant in Middlesbrough, England. About 25 employees there will receive shipments of kits built in Canada, then assemble them for the U.K. and European market. Orders from clients in those markets has more than doubled over the past two years.

Titan Trailers recently designed a new state-of-the-art waste transport trailer for an American buyer. That contract will necessitate the expansions at the factory in Norfolk County.

Currently Titan Trailers employs about 200 workers in Norfolk County. About 50 more workers will be needed for the 92,000-square-foot Phase 2 now under construction. A third phase with even more jobs is in the works.

Titan Trailers has a dedicated research and development team. The company has several patented technologies, including thin walls, horizontal welds, walking floors, and eclipse front ends.
