Harold Schooley of Norfolk County has received the Ontario Fruit & Vegetable Growers’ Association Award of Merit. He has completed 15 years as section chair for research with the organization.
The role of research chair entails many dozens of meetings on behalf of fruit and vegetable growers, including the review of hundreds of research proposals for the University of Guelph to make sure the grower viewpoint is represented.
Harold continues to grow apples on his family farm west of Waterford. He and his wife Jan also operate Apple Hill Lavender, where their daughter operates Raging Bowl Pottery.
