Education & Training

The Grand Erie District School Board and the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board provide elementary and secondary education.

The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie leads the development of local labour market strategies by engaging community partners and maximizing available resources.  It provides evidence-based research and analysis, identifies employment trends, targets workforce opportunities, initiates workforce development strategies, and assists employers with human resource planning.

Nanticoke Industrial Training Centre (NITC) – Offers high quality safety training at their new training centre in Nanticoke.  The training centre boasts efficiency by reducing training costs and eliminating unnecessary duplication.

COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Fanshawe College – Simcoe Campus – located on the outskirts of Simcoe in Norfolk County, the campus offers a range of college services and programs including certificate and diploma programs, pre-apprenticeships, continuing education customized corporate training for business and industry, career and employment preparation and counselling services.

University of Guelph – Simcoe Research Station – the Department of Plant Agriculture has 86.8 hectares of land on the edge of the highly productive Norfolk sand plain in the central Erie region. Its mission is to help strengthen the fruit and vegetable industries in the potentially highly productive zone along the north shore of Lake Erie.  Simcoe operates research programs covering vegetables, fruits, and various alternative crops for the sandy tobacco soils of the area. The ratio of research input is about 70 % vegetables and 30 % fruit, which reflects the approximate distribution of horticultural production in the Lake Erie counties.

Liaison College South Coast – a culinary college located in Waterford, Ontario.  With a passion for food, students will learn that the food industry is limitless.

Wilfrid Laurier University – Laurier Brantford – through its Leadership and Contemporary Studies degree programs provides the area with the leaders of tomorrow in the areas of Management Skills, Environmental Studies and Education.

Mohawk College – has diverse program offerings at the apprenticeship, continuing education, diploma and collaborative degree level, allowing students to optimize their education.  Cooperative education programs give students real-world experience that prepares them for successful careers in their field.  Campuses are located in nearby Brantford and Hamilton.

Nipissing University – Brantford Campus – offers a collaborative Concurrent Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education program with Wilfrid Laurier.  Students can earn a BA (Honours) in Contemporary Studies from Laurier and a Bed from Nipissing and practice teach in the Public or Catholic schools near Brantford.
